Petzl GriGri 2 Recall Notice

The following was pasted on to us by our friends at the AAC.

We have been made aware of another recall alert – this one is for replacement of some models of the Petzl GriGri 2.

Members (with addresses in the UK and Ireland) can get a pre-paid SAE from Lyon Equipment – email GriGri2@Lyon.co.uk and include in the email what item will be returned. This also applies to the Petzl Scorpio lanyard – we emailed AAC(UK) members with a recall notice about this on 24/06/2011.

Due to the current workload they anticipate 5 working days between receipt of goods to sending returns.

PETZL has advised that a SCORPIO L60 lanyard was involved in a via ferrata accident in Grenoble.

The probability of this defect recurring is very low but if you are in the UK or Ireland you are asked to immediately stop using the Scorpio lanyard and to send it for inspection to;

After Sales Department (UK & Ireland)
Lyon Equipment Ltd.
Junction 38, M6
Tebay
Cumbria CA10 3SS

Phone: 015396 25944 (Scorpio returns only)
Email: scorpio@lyon.co.uk

It is essential that you include contact details with any returned items – name, phone number, email and a postal address (for receiving parcels).

For any service other than inspection / replacement you are advised to contact the retailer you purchased from.
The following service is available for returned Scorpio lanyards;

  • Postage refund of up to £6.50
  • Items that pass inspection will be returned
  • Items that do not pass inspection will be replaced
  • Items without any defect but fail the inspection for reasons such as excessive wear or
    damage will be returned with advice that they should be retired and replaced.

Please accept our apologies for this inconvenience. We will resolve this as quickly and
efficiently as possible.
