Overnighting in the capital Lilongwe I hired a small jeep and drove to Cape Maclear where I had arranged to collect the kayak and paddle.
After a good nights sleep in my beach side guest house I set off for Mumbo Island where I stayed overnight and then on to Domwe Island for another overnight stay before paddling back to Cape Maclear the next day.
To finish my trip I spent three days on the road visiting Mvuu camp in the Liwonde National Park and the tea growing region of Mulange.
